Westerville, Ohio is a Northeast Suburb of the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan area. It has a popular "Uptown" area where old buildings have been converted into restaurants, shops, bars and offices. 
History of Westerville
Westerville, Ohio has a rich and interesting history dating back to its founding in 1858. Originally a small farming community, Westerville grew and prospered over the years, eventually becoming a hub for commerce and industry in the early 20th century. During this time, the city was known for its thriving glass and pottery industries, and its downtown area, referred to now as "Uptown Westerville" was a bustling commercial center. In the latter half of the 20th century, Westerville underwent a period of suburbanization and transformed into a residential community, attracting families with its excellent schools and plentiful park systems. 
What's in store for Westerville
Westerville continues to grow and the population is beginning to get younger. The town is one where people often don't move and sell their homes until they are ready to retire or move on. The housing invetory in the Uptown and surrounding area around Otterbein University was mostly built in the early 1900s. Just south of Otterbein and west of State Street the neighborhoods were mostly built in the 1950's as Westerville officially moved into being a suburb.
With the economic growth in the NE coordidor of the Columbus Metro area, Westerville is poised to continue growing econimically and is likely to become more dense with the building of additional residential multi-use buildings close to it's Uptown Center.
